yeah i have a solderin iron, a volt meter.. i should solder every wire?

where should i hide the unit.. whats the worst that can happen if do something wrong?

can it be that bad? how should i tap into the 12volts?

anybody?

wow, if you don't know whether or not you should be soldering or "twisting -n- taping" then you should probably just buck up and pay the shop to do it. i apprenticed for a year under a great installer before i attempted my first alarm and did a bunch of alarms before i did my first remote start. the worst that can happen during the install is:

- kill or smoke the factory computer

- deploy an airbag or two

- start an electrical fire

- etc.

and i can tell ya from experience that you are never completely done with an alarm install. here is the way i explain it to my customers. this isn't like a radio installation where if it doesn't go as planned then you don't have music for a couple of days until you get it fixed. this unit has complete control over your entire vehicle (ie. the starter, the locks, the parking lights, and door triggers). if you do something wrong then you are increasing your risk of becoming stranded somewhere at the least opportune time. when you couple that with limited experience of alarm backgrounds and troubleshooting skills AND a twist and tape alarm install you are asking for huge trouble. no offense but not everyone is qualified to DIY.

I'm no pro, but the first thing I did was find each wire: constant 12volts, door trigger, brake, park lights and so on. I used t-taps. I didn't cut any wires except the starter wire. It took me a few days to do this. So take your time, it could be done. After I found all of the wires I needed, I sat my alarm brain under dash very close to the top. Then I pulled each wire to its location, not making any connections at this time. Just make sure you have every wire you need where it should be. I used t-taps on all the vehicle wires and the alarm wire I cramped connectors to them. When I made my connections all I had to do is slide the connectors into the t-tap. The very last wire I connected was the starter wire because you have to cut that wire. Remember this took me several weeks because I didn't work on it everyday.
