Last time this happened to me- I found the power to the bypass DROPPED OUT during crank- It was an accessory, not an ignition wire- the R/S was not set right from the factory- had to move the jumper inside....just a thought you need to make sure your bypass is powered during crank as well....

Just do it the old fashioned way with a resistor and relay. This way even if the relay goes bad the car will still start. Can't tell you how many 555L/556L I have thrown away in my life because they went bad after prolonged use and the customer's vehicle wouldn't start.
