Im considering a CS350I to put on my car ('88 mazda 323 gtx). Its on sale with no instructions or paperwork of anykind... not even a warranty, but its only $40. I was wondering what i would have to do to install it. I looked in the member's downloads section and found a cs310I and figure for the most part it is similar, if not then whats different in the wiring? I also noticed that theres a method to program the thing that I'll have to go through, anyone got that? i haven't been able to find it on this board or on the net.

I have a shop manual for my car with the wires I'll need, so that shouldn't be a problem

I would consider buying a unit with a warranty and instructions. You can buy a new unit for not too much more and get a guaranteed working unit with not just wiring instructions, but how to program, etc. You can get an ok unit for not too much more than what you are looking to spend on that unit.

As a matter of fact, this link will take you to a remote start system that is $50. (and they advertise on this site). I would not consider this system "high-end" but I have put several of this brand in, and have yet to have any comebacks.

The wiring instruction for CS350i & CS310i were the same and the programming instruction is as follow: Hood switch twice so that the park lights stay on for more than 4 seconds, press button 1 and the pk lts should go off; transmitter is now programmed. Press button 2 and it should start.

The CS350i is a Command Start.This company was bought out by Automobility Distribution in St-Laurent,Quebec.They still handle and sell the Command Start.You can check out their website or call 1-888-557-8278.I have sold and installed a few of these units they quite well.The only small thing I do not like about this brand is that you can not shut off the vehicle with the keychain transmitter.

Thanks twelve, but theres not many sales like this. Most of the systems need to be installed by the company selling them. Its not a law or anything, just a stupid catch to entice people and raise the cost of the starters. If i can get the instructions, then i can avoid the extra $200.

That is really what I was saying. You can purchase the unit I mentioned, or many others from online resellers that are willing to not only allow you to put it in yourself, but would warranty the unit if you do install it yourself.

You do not have to tell it how many cylinders you have. It will offer a tachometer voltage monitoring connection. The starter will monitor this wire for voltage changes, once programmed the system will know when to stop engaging the starter and with some systems, protect it from over revving.

All CS units you can turn off by pressing button 1 and then button 2 and it will shut off.

which are buttons 1 n 2? there were 5 buttons if i recall (4front, 1side) is it 1-4 clockwise starting from the top, right and then 5th on side?

I'm just gonna buy the system, looks straight-forward for the most part

Hello John!

I thought that Command Start was bankrupt over 5 years ago; I'm happy to hear that we can still get parts from Automobility Dist. In Ville St-Laurent Qc.

Many customers were looking for replacement for lost transmitter and I couldn't help because Command Start were bankrupted.
