hey guys,

I just threw a pdx 1000.1 in my trunk tonight after we were closed.......It was going to replace my jl 1000/1.  I'll be messing with it for a few days before i give it back but on the first few songs i was dissapointed....It really couldn't compete on the power end.  The bass was fairly distortion free, but i couldnt get it to really hit without cranking the gain waaay too high (the amp shutdown after about thirty seconds with the gain a quarter inch above the nom mark-again i was trying to squeeze some power out of it).  The size is sweet though...Lots of underseat installs for these puny things.    neways Im feeling a little dissapointed after the first hour of listening.

It took my weeks before I could get the hang of adjusting Alpines digital amps. Call Alpine's tech support and see if they have some ideas. I'll post when I install my first few.

Oh, and BTW? Those are simply BEAUTIFUL amplifiers! I hope they sound as good as they look!
tcss, let me know what I'd be looking at, pricewise, for (2) 1kW monoblocks, (1) 2 channel, and (1) 4 channel! If the reviews are glowing enough, I think I'm really interested! PM me!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

hey guys have ya'll seen the new sinsister 6 ride that steve did and the new guy it looks sick its a bmw 645i on that new line even at the ces if that was the only one playing of coarse it would sound good in that car cause of the "perfect" speaker placement they do them in but in a real world car would be different as snottdobbs said but from what i heard alpine f1 status line is only really good if everything in the car in f1 cause their all made for each other to go with each other u know

there are only four controls on the amp.  These amps arent designed to compete they're designed for sales numbers.

Ahhhh, the Alpine version of chrome, flames and blue led's perhaps. I think that they look great as well but it was inside that counts. Bob, give us some more beedfack please.

i dont know what your talking about

whats a 300 and a 200?  a 150.2 a 150.4? madness i say.....bah, these amps will be great for those wishing to indulge themselves in some sq (myself included) my point was that alpine is giving us these amps comparing them to the jl 1000/1.  But the 1000.1 i put in my trunk does not hit like my 1000/1 does.  same power at 2 or 4 ohms super, but they dont have the raw power to slam some speakers.  I will say that the mrd-m1001 hits  with the same force the pdx amp does.  I dont know, our alpine rep is constantly trying to convert me, but my jl stuff has been super reliable and just seems to be more flexible in terms of application.  Yes the SIZE to POWER ratio is AWESOME with these new amps!  But that wont be enough to make me keep the pdx amp in my trunk.  sorry
