chris, are you saying that you use a key, wihtout breaking it in half?   what if this car was stolen and the insurance recoverd it with a key in it? or the car burned and the key was found amongst the debris?

i break every key, with lawyers these days, im taking no chances.

You don't have to break a key. If your using a valet key that's programmed already, just cut the shaft off & if it's a new key , don't get it cut.

I haven't seen that piece from Trilogix.
How does the cost compare to simply going to the Honda dealer and getting another key made? It is important for you to keep the valet key?

It was intorduced last December and not exactly a cheap peice to get either. Good for now until they make a less expensive alternative.

Most of the work I do is for new-car dealerships.
Even if I explain the deal with cutting the shaft of the key to managers, salespeople, or both......it's a volatile business and people move from dealership to dealership quite often.
If a situation arises where all of the car's keys need to be reprogrammed, and one of them has been cut up, someone cries.
If they don't know the tricks to program a key that's been cut/broken, someone has to pay for a new key to be made......whether it be the dealership, or the car's owner.
So, it kind of goes into the category of "no good deed goes unpunished." But I'll happily do it if asked.
