for the windstar it is a little hard to get the radio out. You need the tools they are worth it for this van. You need something with sturdiness to get the radio out. Apply pressure outwards of the radio and pull. Keep trying it will take time to get it out. There is no other way.

If you have a pick set use it to insert into each of the holes. If you do not have a pick set then an Allan key set will do the same.

i hooked up my stereo today and its not working. there was a fuse that was broken but i replaced it and nothing. so i dunno im goin to look some more into it tommorow. also i hooked my alarm/starter and i had some problems

1) one of the relays the manual said its for 2nd ign, 2nd str or 2nd acc. and theres 2 wires comein from the relay a purple and a blue and i have no idea what there for.

2) i dont know were the tach wire is suppose to go. i have no idea where the coil is.

3) i figured that without these hooked up it should still work. i followed the instuctions on how to set up the remote and nothing.

Your van has 2 acc. and 2 ign. wires.  If your R/S does not have these outputs, you'll have to add a relay or two to power them.  It sounds like your R/S has a wire that is programmable for starter, acc., or ign.  You'll have to find out how to set it in the manual.

The coil is on top of the motor between the intake manifold and the firewall.  Bit of a pain to get at, but it is possible.  I've always used the pink/white wire there with no trouble.

The R/S would not work when half way installed because you haven't programmed tach and it sounds like you may be missing an ignition and accessory wire.
