another question.   I had 2 12in fosgates with a punch amp.   speakers were 200 rms each,  amp was 400 rms.  I'm running double that now and my lights dim but the bass is easily half of what the fosgate had at half the power i'm pushing now.  Is that due to Fosgate being a much better speaker or what?

anyone?

You could probably work up a better enclosure for those subs and increase the output.  It's incredible how big of a role the box / airspace has with output.  And there are other considerations why there is such a difference, as well.  But trying to figure out how to fix a problem by remembering how a past setup performed will not go anywhere.  You have to deal with the here and now.  Comparisons are really only valid if both setups can be tested in the same time frame under controlled conditions.  Memory doesn't serve well for controlled testing.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
