i am running 2 kenwood Kac-7201's amps...my question is that they have been working fine and just yesterday both of the amps shut off at the same time then they came back on then i smelt like something was burnt

whats goin on?

re-check your wires if nothing is loose.

all of my wires are tightly in place

each amp is bridged to 4 ohms so theres no problem there with the ohm load

ok so i found out the problem.....i melted my main fuse it didn't blow for some reason????  i am running an 80A blade fuse so my new question is do i need to run a bigger fuse or something different???

i am running 2 800watt amps

What size of wire are you running? 

What size fuses does each amplifier have?

heres my setup hope it doesn't confuse you guys

battery----4 gauge----80A fuse---4 gauge--------cap-----split into two 8 gauge-----amps

You would be safe to fuse the 4 gauge wire at 150, however, you need to fuse it at the total current draw on the wire (both amplifiers).  For example, if each amp is fused at 40 amps, you would need an 80 amp inline fuse; if both are fused at 50, you would need a 100.  What is each amp fused at. 

If the correct fuse blows, it means you have a short somewhere.
