from what I have been told they sound like crap in a sealed box.

I was just asking. You might could get two 12's that will work in a small sealed box for about the price of the JL setup you are looking at. That would probably be closer to the sound you have now.

if nothing else I can always throw these in a fiberglass box that is smaller in size but same volume since it can be rounded and shaped better than a standard box.
