Do this to the preout on the deck? If so, before or after the RCA cable. i.e. in the trunk or behind the deck?

I have finally gotten around to doing this. I found my bass cd and at 40 Hz my dmm gives a max reading of 400mv (that's at a HIGH volume level) Sub/Amp Performance - Page 2 -- posted image. Its a pioneer DEH-P80MP, supposed to be 4v. Is the output on my deck shot?
