First off, do not incorporate two different sized woofers in a sub system, you are asking for problems, regardless of how you setup crossovers, as you will need a fairly complex and expensive one. Simply not worth it.

Secondly, just recommending a ported box to some one with out knowing what type of speakers are going to be used is foolish. That could end you up in the same situation. The wrong enclosure for the speakers.

How about specific model number for these speakers, and then a box recommnedation will follow. Obviously some speakers fair better in sealed enclosures while others are designed for ported applications.

I am not necessarily against ported enclosures (as it will depend on the speaker) but I find sealed enclosures to have more advantages, like a better over all tonal response with less peaks at certain frequencies, easier to construct, smaller, and less likely to destroy drviers, although thats more dependant on the user.

I forgot to mention that I recommend using 4 subs of the same size (if you are still going with 4). I meant to say that in my earlier post but forgot. I have nothing against using 6" subs for your midrange. in fact I am doing that exact same thing in my car except I moved the location from the rear deck to the rear doors. Im using 2 of the JL 6W0s as my midrange drivers. It does a great job.
