I just thought of another question. What will keep my add on alarm from sounding when I use my factory remote start?

Some aftermarket systems have a DISARM wire that requires a (-) signal from a remote start that will temporarily turn off the alarm system until the remote start is activated.

Thanks for the replies, these are some great forums and I'm glad to have found them.
I just wish I knew why I had two shops telling me that there was no way to add to my current factory system while only having to use one remote. I've dealt with both shops in the past and always thought their service was good.
If I could find someone who has actually done work on an 06 Impala I'd really feel good.
Many shops don't do add-on alarms. I've been in the business for 8 years and have never done one. Usually, it is easier and more effective to just add a new system in with new remotes. Now that more and more cars are coming equiped with remote start, remote power sliding doors, and keys with a remote control built in it may be something that will be getting done more often.
