The alarm is a Toad A101CL, i've tried touching the switch wires to earth but to no avail.

Wondering if anyone has any ideas before i take the alarm out to have a look.

if i undestand the wire you have is a wire that triggers the  the alarm when a negative dood pin is triggerd and u can arm the alarm and ground (earth) this wire and the alarm does not go off?

if thats the case i say check and make sure the wire on the brain is looking for a negative trigger , check the wire right at the brain and at the end with a multi meter to see if it has continuity  (a break in it). if all checks out than u have a bad brain

bring back the rotary phone so i dont have to press 1 to proceed in english

Sorry only just been able to get online. Yeah the pin switches are negative trigger.

I thought it was odd that both of the switches stopped working together! I'll check for a break in the wire asap.

Hope the alarm isn't knackered, it's not that old.
