In defense of your initial setup i'll tell you about a setup that i jsut finished with that Alpine signal processor. here's the breakdown...

2 12W6v2s powered by a 100/1

2 8W3v2s powered by a 300/4

JL XR 3 way component system powered by a 300/4

The signal is coming from a computer, and is an optical s/pdif signal going to the alpine processor. We had the control unit mounted in the dash for easy crossover setting changes and such, but all of the audio was handled in the back of the car. The advantage that the optical signal has is that light isnt subject to the power line's interference as far as i know, so even though on my install it was only 5 feet between the source and the processor, if you had a head unit in the front, and the processor in the back, then a single TOSLINK cable is a lot neater to run under the carpet than 6 RCA cables, and not subject to the same interference. This is all assuming thats one of the Alpine head units that has an optical output.

All i can say though is that that signal processor has been working out great for that install (besides a random position switch between the components and the 8s that is most likely a rough x-over/GEQ setting) and it's got multiple digital inputs which would make an X-box hookup work out well with another TOSLINK hookup.

But your updated system looks like it would be alright too, just thought i'd give my $.02 on the signal processor.
