Have you tried to send a pulse to the door trigger prior to unlock or using the unlock signal and split the signal going to the unlock for the doors and one to the door trigger ? This is just a guess, but the system sounds like the GM RAP & the Ford's GEM units. They need to be woken up in order to operate & most times all you need to do is pulse the door trigger for it to work properly.
