i wanted to know if anyone has info on these alternators i have a friend that has one that is supposed to be 220 amps with a external voltage reg. i wanted to know what the idle voltage would be.

Probably around 65 amps or so. The owner's maual would have the information, I'm sure.
I had a 165A alternator from Alterstart on my Civic, and it was specified to put out 80A at idle. Without a current meter in the system, or without the manufacturers information, there's no way to guess.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

the part no. on the alternator is "9290D G"  does that help any

I'm gonna prolly sound silly here, but is this rockford fosgate we're talking about? Cause I did a general internet search for Rockford alternators and nothing really came up, it all referenced back to fosgate, but they don't have anything on their page about it.

yes it is rockford fosgate it is a old alternator

I think Rockford should stick to stereo compontents rather than auto parts. There are plenty of high output alternators on the market that the company specialzes in. I don't think I would every buy a Bosch stereo or Delco speakers.

You arnt by chance rom Missouri are you?     I know rockord had some alts made with a rockford badge done for competitors a few years ago and they were 220 at 1200 engine RMS.......this could get interesting.

i am from chicago. i guess that alternator wouldnt be good for a everyday driver 220 amps at 1200 rpm whoa.
