Joel,
Are you aware that the factory remotes on that Explorer don't work when the engine is running? Once the car is remote started, you're going to have to use your key to unlock the doors.
If you don't make ANY connection to the BLACK/ green second-accessory wire at the ignition switch, the factory remote WILL work when the engine is running, but the air conditioner WON'T blow cold; this wire triggers the AC compressor.
So, if you'll only use it in the winter, don't power up the BLACK/ light green.............if you want to use it in the summer too, either buy a remote starter with its own remotes for start/lock/unlock, or live with the fact that your own remote won't work with the car running.

Chris,

Thaks for the info.  I was not aware of that.  Since I would like to use the remote start in the winter and summer I will keep the BLACK/ green second-accessory wire connected and use the key to unlock the door.  Is this the same wire as the factory alarm disarm?

I am just adding it to the OEM system.  I would like to use the remote but the air and heat is the most important.
