Ok, well i have an 86' Mercedes 300E. It has a wussy 60 amp alternator. I have a JL 100/1 with an MTX 9500. I killed my optima yellowtop already but i dont know if thats what killed it. All i know is that my alternator was running at max when the battery was dead but that doesnt say much about the stereo.
Im just wondering what i can do to avoid upgrading my alternator. Can i run 2 batteries or something to help this system out. I had it running fine for a day but i had problems with the fuses.
I will be doing some amp testing tomarrow, but i just want to find out what i can do to keep the system alive. Maby 2 batteries??

2 batteries won't help a bit....if you can't keep them charged. (new HO alternator)

My best guess is @ 60amps, your alternator is probably close to its limits for the OEM spec. As is always suggested on here when it comes to power problems, you will need to upgrade the Big 3.  How to upgrade the Big Three, From there As KarTuneMan said, you will need to upgrade your alternator. I believe any other way would just be a band-aid solution, and you will continuesley be fighting this problem.
