Sitting in Bob's shop typing this... Panels are done, man! Pictures to follow, right Bob? Personally, I think they look awesome! Acoustically, they are optimally placed, and I think they are going to sound awesome!It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. So, how did we take on this task.....any moving of the window motors involved or did you opt for plan B?Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Actually we got off easy. Used Ham's door panels as a mold, covered them with tin foil and layed in the glass. took them out and filled with expanding foam. After the foam hardened cut it to shape and made MDF rings for the drivers. Layed another layer of glass over everything mounted drivers and covered with grill cloth. Done.There is no such thing as free installation!

I wasn't even there to see the process, but the guys said they took snaps as they were being built... I've got a/my company picnic to emcee today (lucky me - I was conscribed to it...) so I won't even be able to work on wiring it in today. TOMORROW, though... I may (although WILL is I think, more accurate...) have to do some serious cutting to get the Adires jammed into the doors, but they're going in, dammit! I figured about 450 watts per door, tri-amped, will be the final power tally. I have hopes for this system like nobody on this board can even imagine. This is 5 years of acquiring of components, and more time than that designing and installing, and putting in "good enough for now" systems, people! <Dave scratches his head and thinks, "Has it really been that long? Jeez, I gotta get more sunlight.">

Plan B... Flushed into the surface. Sure the surface is three inches further INTO the passenger compartment than it was before... And finally... 66 people have looked, but is NOBODY interested in a babied, like new Eclipse SW9122? There will be rear, but only bass. In the front doors, the Adire Extremis 6.8 will run from maybe 80 to 100 Hz and up to 350Hz with a dedicated 200wpc. The low frequency cross-in point of this driver will be determined in the tuning stage. The mids will be handled by a custom (Harman modified) Vifa mid, running from 350Hz to 4kHz, with a dedicated (approximate) 120wpc. The higs are handled by the newly acquired JL silk-dome tweeters, 4K and up, with a dedicated 85wpc. Sub bass (and I do mean SUB bass) will be two TCSounds TC1000 10" subwoofers, in one cubic foot each, powered by the Eclipse DA7232. I am planning a relay system with a control switch in the dash to switch between 8 ohm load, producing around 450 WRMS per woofer, and 2 ohm load, providing around 950 WRMS per woofer, and providing an additional 6dB of sensitivity, too. These will be subsonic high-passed at around 20 to 22Hz, and low-passed at 50Hz. All wires are Monster, with 14g for the tweeters and mids and 12g for the Adires. Processing is handled by the VERY capable (and quite expensive, I might add) Alto UCSPro Digital Control System. Two of those in the system - one for the rears and one for the doors. Amplification and head unit, are of course, Eclipse. The rear deck will have Tang-Band 7 inch subwoofers, running from the sub crossover point of 50Hz up to the Adires in the door. All crossover points will be as steep as possible, minimum 36dB. Sounds like a good foundation, and like a real potential female dog to get the crossovers and levels all tweaked.  Time for a serious RTA and probably hours of EQ work, my friend.  Have a great time doing it, I know I would! Support the12volt.com
