I've grounded the wire, bridged my amp, but i have no clue where the remote hooks up to in my head unit. Does it connect to the same wire in ALL headunits...or is there many different wires...

Remote requires a 12 volt positive signal to trigger the amp on.  All aftermarket head units have a remote wire - in most cases a blue or blue/white. What make/model is your radio?

if you are running off your stock HU then you need to run a remote from your battery to a switch then run that to your amp. just a thought but you could run a remote from your ignition to your amp.
