I wouldn't recommend that razor stuff to any body. It would work but I don't think its worth it. I had had to work on peoples cars that were like "yeah yeah it ain't easy is it? can't nobody take that out" then i'm like yeah so now you got to pay more for making my job harder. The hassel isnt worth it. If you don't do sloppy things with your car the chance is less. Exp. Get an alarm, a good one! Probably not "a good price" on ebay.  Let people see you arm and disarm it. Lets people know you have one. Don't park your car places to "test your alarm". Park public places, well lit. To rap it up something I say over and over, stop showing off. I love systems and love to hear them but so does a theif. Don't blast your music on the way to work an turn it off when you get out the car to park your car for 8 1/2 hours out of site. Turn it off before you get to where you are going to leave it for extended periods. Oh! an take the faceplate out. Not in the glove box either, out of the car, or the trunk. Most theives have seen you before. You probably have talked to them about your car

All remote controls used for our purposes should be RF. unless indoors, Infra red is not very effective as the sun emits truck loads of infra red and will interfere.

You can use repeaters if in any outdoor situation where you wish to convert IR to RF.

At least thats what I do for any marine applications...never had this question posed upon me dealing with road vehicles.

Hope I helped
