Last night, I was installing the Compustar 2wss-as in my friends 95 GMC sierra. After i had most of the harnesses installed, I decided to test it out and make sure it worked. I connected the main harness, the ignition output harness, sensing harness, led harness and antenna harness.
Then, I tried to program the remote. The manual said (it was late i could have done this wrong) to turn the key 5 times in 10 seconds and then push the 1st button on the remote. I tried this several times and nothing happened. There were no clicking sounds. lights flashing...nothing. I then tested to voltage to the brain and its getting power.
Am I missing something? Possibly a different way to program the remote or is the brain dead?

You have to toggle the ignition ON-OFF 5 times within 3 seconds for programming. Also, make sure that you have the GREEN wire from the CN1 harness attached to the PINK wire at the ignition.

I tested the voltage at the brain and its getting the signal from the ignition.
I tried toggling the ignition on/off 5 times and then putting the battery into the remote. The remote just searches. After 30 seconds it beeps but doesnt link up. Does it have to be under 3 seconds? I think the fastest I did it was probably 5 seconds (ignition wasnt the easiest to turn fast).

I always place the battery in the remote prior to programming and it's always worked for me. You don't necessarily have to toggle the ignition swithc to the OFF position on all vehicles rather you can toggle between the ON position and the ACC position.

The alarm is installed in a 95 GMC Sierra.
When I remote start the truck with the alarm armed it will not turn on. The ignition/accessories will get power but the starter does not. I can hear the fuel pump too.
When I remote start the truck with the alarm disarmed it will remote start.
Why is this?
Also, I noticed that tapping the pager on the window does not send a signal to the remote. Ideas?
Thanks for your help.

To the first question, it sounds as if you may have the starter kill input and ouput backwards. Make sure that the remote start output is on the out side of the cut starter wire, not the key side of the cut starter wire.
As far as your second question goes, I am not sure what tapping the remote on the window is supposed to do.

Which Compustar model is it? Is the remote pager turned on? The phone handset icon should be visible in the LCD display's cars windshield if it is.

twelvevoltz on some 2 way pagers compustar has a "knock sensor" it sticks to the windshield so people can knock on you windshield and it pages the remote.

I will check the wires today but if the starter wires were backwards wouldnt the remote start not work at all?

No as when the alarm is armed the relay acts as a open circuit for starter when disarmed its a closed circuit allowing it to start.
