what you have done is hooked your ground to an illumination wire. this wire appears to test as a ground when your lights are off but as soon as you turn your lights on, the wire becomes 12volts.disconnect the ground from your deck and connect it directly to chassis. Also make sure that any other loose wires in the vehicle that are not being used are capped or sealed off.
