Is it possible to extend the range of the stock keyless entry system on a Dodge Ram pickup?  It seems I have to walk within about 20 feet of the truck to get the doors to lock or unlock via the remote.  Normally this wouldn't be much of an issue, but I'm using the unlock button of the keyless entry to trigger the remote start and the range doesn't shoot far enough so that I can start my truck from my door step on cold mornings.  My truck is about 50 feet from my front door. :(

Typically you can't adjust the range of a stock keyless system because they arn't designed for long range.  System designers have to compromise between battery life and transmitter strength, and most OEMs would rather safe batteries (and hassle) then increase range of their keyless systems.  Also, limited range keyless remotes help prevent accidently unlocking the doors without knowledge.

I would never recomend to trigger a remote start off of an OEM keyless system, because range is inconsistant.  Your best bet would to replace everything with an aftermarket unit, or at least upgrade your keyless system to an aftermarket unit.  If you want to stay OEM you may try replacing the battery, that may provide a temporary fix.

This is a STARTNR2 system from Micro Alarm, it's designed for use with the factory keyless entry because it uses the negative pulse from the unlock button to trigger the remote start, it doesn't even have it's own remote with the kit.
