I need some help.  I have a 2000 honda accord and just installed a viper 790xv.  I also hooked it up to airhorns as well as the original siren included with the alarm.  My problem is the installer toned down the airhorns by making them "chirp" for a short period of time by putting a diode in between of the wire, I want the siren to be loud and chirp for a longer time but I'm not sure if the diode is there to do that or if there was another reason that the diode is there.  I thought he was suppose to use a resistor instead so I'm not sure what would happed if I take out the diode.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

The arm and disarm chirps are just that, chirps. There is no way to make them louder for the chirps( the compressor barely powers up when the alarm chirps, that is why they are quiter) without getting into relays and timing. Besides why the hell would you want air horns going off when you arm and disarm the alarm, they are meant for when the alarm is set off? Have you tried to panic the alarm and see if it gets loud?

Okay, I guess I didn't explain myself that clearly.  I am trying to say that when the alarm goes off the air horns honks (sounds off) but for short periods of time like, it honks for a second then pauses for 2 seconds then honks again for a second and so on.  The installer told me he was gonna do this to make it not too anoying.  But it's really not enough for me.  I see that there is a diode installed inbetween the wires.  I was wondering if this is what he did to make it sound off for a shorter time.  So if I take out the diode, will that solve my problem or is it there for another reason.  Hope this is much more clearer to understand.  thanks

Which wires did he put the diodes on/between?
Does the siren sound constantly or does it pulse during a panic also?
Might want to get the programming manual from www.directed.com and regrogram the output from pulsed to constant (or at least check to see which it is set at).

I'm the alarm man......

Okay those horns on these cars are neg. so you want to do this...

85....ground it

30....ground it

86....brown wire on alarm.

87....to the horn.  You will also need another wire for the regular sirens...

with your alarm you should have a BROWN / black wire which is for (-) horn output.  If your horn is a (-) trigger, simply connect the BROWN / black wire to it.
Do it right the first time

Got a question. The car is a 2000 accord V6.  I have a viper 790XV with 2 viper 514n sirens and a set of airhorns.  It was programmed to pulsed and the airhorns just sounded off short and quick and not at full power and the viper sirens too. (sounded weird)  I changed it to constant and the airhorns just went off full blast and the sirens too.  How can i set the sirens to go at full blast and the airhorns to go off pulsed but longer stronger pulses?? Is that possible. Thanks

Not possible, you have to pick either pulsed or constant.
The viper 5000 has 2 output during full trigger (siren & horn that can be programmed to sound during full trigger).
This is an option for your exact desire.
