im trying to install a remote start/alarm  and i got the alarm to work, but im having trouble learning the tach.  right now i have it hooked up behind the instrument cluster but i guess the signal isn't strong enough.  Can someone please tell me where i can find it in the engine compartment? perhaps at one of the ignition coils?  i see the coils but i don't know which color wir to look for.  behind the cluster the wire is WHITE/ green but there are no wires that color by the engine.  any help would be appreciated i wanna try n get this done tonight. Thanks!!

depending on the remote start system you are using you can go to any one of the injectors or the ignitor if that is easier. the coil is a sure bet but some remote starts don't like it.

i just did one of those and the trunk release(if your wondering) is a five wire positive trigger system.

i went into the drivers door to do it. i did the connections right at the switch.

canada's cold eh.

FYI
NISSAN, MAXIMA, 2000, Tachometer
Located on the rear of the instrument cluster in the white plug. Do not start the car with the cluster unplugged. Can also find the WHITE/ green at the ECM located in the front of the center console on the transmission hump. The wiring is easily reached by removing the panel just to the front of the center console on the passenger side. DO NOT UNPLUG THE ECM.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.2000 maxima tach wire -- posted image.
