8g instead of speaker wire for subs?

is it possible to use 8g amp power wire instead of normal speaker wire to wire my subs in parallel and then the same wire into my amp will i get more wattage that way or is it not a good thing to do? ........ sorry i have dumb questions about my system but im a newbie and i dont really know too much about this yet im still learning

This is perfectly fine. Larger wire is capable of passing more current safely. As long as it's not too big to create headaches hooking it up, go for it. There will be no audible difference.

I use 8 guage in my projects but thats only because I have measured over 70 amp of current from my amps.
Really 8 guage is overkill for 1000-1500 watts

i've seen people use 8ga wires for speaker wire before, he had 4 rockford hx2 power 15's each being powered with a 2000 watt amp, i fogot what kind but they were huge, kinda like the mojos, but i guess if your going to be handeling lots of power its a good idea...

I use it for my 8 12's. Not that I need it. It just looked cool. I used spark plug wire looms to hold the wire. I have all my subs inverted and wired to look like engine cylinders.
