No, I didn't hook up the tach wire. I was planning on using voltage sensing. Wouldn't the system still attempt to start the truck even if it's not hooked up? I thought the tach wire was just so it knows to disengage the starter. Would it still need to be programmed before it will work?
The tx seems to the working. It will arm and disarm the alarm ok. It will give two beeps after I hit *-* to start the truck, but I haven't been able find anything in the manual about what that means.
I'll try hooking up the tach wire tomorrow and see if that helps.

It looks like the unit is set up for tach sensing as a default.....in this case, yes it would need to be programmed......you can change the feature to voltage sense (start feature II programming, step 2) and then it should start. i would recommend tach, but for testing purposes, either or will work.

Hey, just as a follow up, I finally got the remote starter working tonight. Turns out that with the FM-870 you need to go in and program it for either tach or voltage sensing before it will attempt to start. I set it for voltage sensing and then it started right up. It seems to be working ok on that setting so I'm not going to bother with the tach wire. Thanks for your help mikvot.
