i have an 05 dodge neon that i installed a pair of subs and an amp in, when i shut the car off i get this very loud bass tone that lasts about 2 to 3 seconds, also if i turn the head unit off while the car is running it does this continually. i had this equipment installed in my previous car with no problems at all. everything is new only about 2 months old. Im afraid this is going to fry my subs. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

you may want to check your ground wire and make sure that it is getting a good solid ground. Also check your gain levels and have them properly set. And you might as well check your connections from your stock headunit to your amplifier.

from the fuse box, i used the radio fuse, I couldnt figure out which wire was remote from the head unit I als tried the cigarette lighter to see if I got the same response and did there as well.. Ive checked all connections they all seem pretty secure, as for the ground I drilled a hole in the rear deck (metal of course)between the factory speakers and secured it there.

it sounds like your amp is constantly on, i would check your remote turn on wire and see if it is constant or not. the only wire you can use from the factory deck would be RED / white which is your ignition wire. it should only have power when the key is in acc, or on position.

I messed with it earlier and rehooked the ground, it did fine for a bit then it happened again, its like something is building up in the system. I did redo my remote to the RED / white wire.It wasnt constant before though, it turned off with the ignition. i took the ground lose and sanded around the connection so it was on totaly bare metal and i thought it was fixed but after a bit it did it again. its like when i lose the ground something resets, and then builds up again. its got me by the sack ! I do have the inputs ran through a loc, im gonna read up on it to see if maybe there is something up with it.

Check your gains on your amp, maybe they are set too high. I had the same problem when i switched to a newer deck with a higher preout voltage. good luck

just a thought but maybe it is the way I hooked the inputs? I just tapped the rear outputs to the rear speakers with some inline wire taps,  the output is also powering the rear speakers as well as the amp input, might it be to much drain on the signal causeing this? I am gonna try unplugging the rear speakers and see if I get the same result, I will post my result after I try it,

Ok well I did unplug my rear speakers and the feedback stopped, now I know I cant just tap the rears for the amp inputs! Done it before but I guess theres something different with the neon. Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone.

One more thing, anyone have picks of installs in newer neons? Just looking for some suggestions on how to mount everything so it looks good and everything is out of the way and funcional. at the moment I have my amps mounted to the backs of the rear seats and the loc in the trunk, I havent hooked the amp up that I have for my front speakers yet, planning to put them on a cheap 400 watt 4 channel so there is a little ballance between the bass and the music.
