I have ran into this problem before in my other vehichles....

at low volumes I can hear what seems to be the "sound" of the CD mechanism loading (or moving) to the selected track, and it lasts up to 1 second after the selected CD track has loaded. Seems to go away after it has been on for a while. I had this problem with an old Clarion CD player and my new alpine is doing the same thing. Headunit is not powering anything, speakers are run off of amp and sub is off of another amp. Both are tested in other vehichles and are noise free. Any ideas?

So you have this sound coming from the headunit itself, not through the speakers?
