Ok guys, so I installed this NITRO 1 way remote start alarm in this guys 2002 avalanche (big jerk by the way)
He bought this alarm from one of my friends that sells cheaper quality stuff and no name brand car audio. I advised them not to send me those kinda customers with crappy no name brand alarms.
So I installed the alarm, installed the bypass, programmed the bypass(DEI 457GW) and then went to remote start it. I hooked up both ignition wires, starter, accessory, tach, brake wire, and the remote start status wire to the correct spot.
The cd player came on, the dash lit up, the gauges turned on, then the starter cranked over a few seconds but didnt start.
I noticed that the bypass was being very uncooperative with the programming. I would hold down the button while inserting the main harness into the bypass module, turn the key to ignition, but the lil red light wouldn't flash rapidly. It would stay solid and when I turned the key to ignition, the light would just turn off. I would try to start it with the key and it wouldnt start. I cut the yellow wire and hooked up the pink/black wire from the bypass to the key side and the pink wire from the bypass to the module side.
The remote start status wire from the alarm works, as it threw a (-) signal before attempting to remote start and held it until it gave up after 3 tries. To me, it kinda sounded like no spark or fuel was being injected, just a starter cranking over.
I'm gunna try to use a Peripheral bypass module and see if thats the problem.

Did you read the instructions on the 457G? You only need to cut the passlock wiring if installing in some Cadillacs. The 457G bypasses the passlock through the data connection made at pin 2 of the OBDII.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

yup, cutting only needed on them lacs, found that out the hard way with an 03 denali, the traction contro light kept coming on and the dome lights popped on after moving for a few seconds. reconnected that wire and BAM! everything was ok again.

on that vehicle it should be a purple wire from the obdII that the 457 connects to if i remember correctly. try hooking it up that way and see if it works.

So, I dont have to cut that yellow wire and wire in the pink and the pink/black wire to them?
How does this bypass the immobilizer? through the OBDII port?
How will the 457gw learn the r-code?

Taken directly from the manual for the 457G:
"1. Locate and press the programming switch while inserting the wire harness into connector 1 of the
GM DATA ALL module. The LED status indicator will illuminate to indicate the system is in programming
mode. Keep the programming button pressed while turning the ignition to ON. Release the programming
switch once the LED status indicator flashes rapidly.
2. Start the engine (using the vehicle’s key). The LED status indicator will turn off to indicate that the
module has been programmed for either PassKeyIII or PassLockII (and control of additional features
where applicable). Turn the key to the OFF position."

swerve and twelvevoltz, thank you for your help.
I an still confused on this bypass. So, NONE of those 3 wires on the backside of the module are used? Those 3 wires are the pink, pink/blk, and a white one.
You know what....I'm just gunna pick up a Peripheral PGMBP bypass and call it a day.

What is to be confused about? The Passlock is bypassed thru the purple wire in the OBDII plug. The doorlocks are also controlled thru the same wire. You only need to connect to 1 wire in the car, the rest of the wires can be connected to the alarm/remote start when you bench prep the unit.
The yellow R-Code wire in the ignition harness does not get cut, or tapped into.
That 3-wire harness on the 457G is only used on PK3 vehicles.

just reconnect that wire you cut and connect the right wire to the OBDII connector. its as simple as that. the 457g is an all in one module which means that it is adaptable to suit many different vehicles. all you have to do is find the correct diagram for the vehicle you are working on and follow it.

Thank you guys. I thought door locks couldn't be controlled through that bypass on a 2002 Chevy Avalanche? I thought that only worked on 2003 and up avalanche?

You are correct that the door locks can not be controlled with that data module on the 2002 models. But the door locks are simple to get to at the BCM under the dash.
The GMBP is a great piece, I use it anytime I can but the 457G you have will work just fine. There is no need to buy another part, just hook up your connections to the 457 from your system with out door locks. Make sure your ground when running is hooked up, your ignition and your constant hot and ground, these connections can all be made on the bench prior to installing. The only vehicle connection is to the purple OBDII wire. Program the unit as per instructions and you will be good to go.
