I'll go 75% accurate. I would move more to the "stay away" list. A few more catagories would be helpful.

Maybe for the newer stuff but NOT the older stuff....
That list is just "entry level".....

Being an AltoMobile user, and a STAUNCH supporter of the company and the products, I MUST wholeheartedly disagree with the placement of the Alto products under "Entry Level". An 800 dollar processor, with more advanced features than you can shake a stick at, does NOT constitute "Entry Level" in my book.
I am referring specifically to the UCSPro. 2 input, 6 output, 1, 2, or 3 way crossover, (in stereo mode) up to 48dB/octave, (with crossover TYPE selectivity - Butterworth, Bessel, etc., and in mono mode, can be used up to 6 ways!) TRUE 31 band parametric equalization, (frequency, Q, and gain...) time delay, noise gate, input ganging, output ganging, I/O gain controls, (by individual channels), 20 bit A-D conversion, 24 bit D/A conversion, 106 dB S/N ratio... There is literally an 80486 166MHz computer processor on the control board to do all of this stuff, in REAL-TIME. Uh, huh... THAT'S entry level... I don't know where this list originated, but they need to re-evaluate their criteria, if THAT piece only makes "Entry Level". I might add that the rest of the product line also excels in nearly every category I have ever seen them in. Their line of Class D amps are FANTASTIC sounding products, based on the (I think...) TriPath amplifier modules. With switching frequencies above 500kHz, they sound anything BUT digital...
Those are specifications and capabilities I would expect to see in UPPER high-end grouped equipment. "Competition" means nothing to me, ANYTHING can be taken to "competition"...
Ummm... I'm'a go take a Valium... list of stay away to competition - Page 2 -- posted image.

C'mon, i think thats an understatement, Your talkin down on the W7, have you lookedat the Competion section of the list? The W7 outperforms that whole list almost, maybe you havent heard one in the right box.

I agree completely. You can go cheap on amps (as long as the Real rms ratings are used for classification), but as for woofers you need emaculate box designs for cheapos in order to get sound from them. You can use crap amps, crap woofers just need to be thought-out more.

On that list the Alpine F1, Digital Designs, Jbl/Crown, Rainbow would all put the Jl W7 to shame, in both the SPL and SQ competition scene.    The Alpine and Rainbow wouldnt be used In SPL.    But I have judged many systems last year in which DD, Alpine, Kicker, JBL all walked away with a better score then JL could pull off.   Maybe it just me, but the $600-$800 price tag on a woofer not the best deal in my mind, and not all that impressive.
Maybe you right thought, the roughly 10-15 setups I have heard this year in the SQ lanes using JL w7's were all designed poorly.
In my eyes, I would take The JBL GTI, FI BTL, or FiQ lines, DD 9512, Alpine F1, Kicker CVX, RE MX, or many other brands "superwoofer" over a JL W7 anyday.     I have owned both the W6v2 and W7 lines, and expermented with both of them, but was never stasified with the sound I recieved for the money I spent.
Just my $.02

I'm glad you said that about the GTi's Jeff... I'm getting a pair of 10's given to me. I am wondering how they will do vs the TC1000's in SQ... Anybody have input on that?
