Well, I am finally preparing to install new stereos in my 2 vehicles. While I am at it, I thought I would do the "radio on until door open" idea - using the 2 relays and the diode in the ignition accessories wire. My questions are...

What size (voltage, ohms, etc.) do the relays and diode need to be? I am not running any amps - just a simple CD/MP3 player, AM/FM receiver head unit.

How do you guys typically mount or assembly this kind of thing? The "easy" way as I see it would be to simply tape the relays together and just use wires and female connectors to jumper the relays. But is there a recommended way? Should I use a small curcuit board?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

I use relay sockets that have the 5 wires coming off them, but wires and female connectors are acceptable. I also use popcicle sticks or fat zip tie ends for supporting diodes and resistors when they are needed. solder them up , then sandwitch them between 2 zip tie ends and tape them up. and once it al workes, then I tape the relays together and tie them up somewhere convinient [or inconvinient as the case may be]..

Thanks for the response man - I didn't see it earlier.

I'll likely be going eletronics shopping tomorrow, so I'll talk to the folks there and see what I can find.
