I am buying this amp and I was wondering if it is to much power for my sub. I will be using a p3SD412

Sgould I put the gain in th emiddle in order to not blow the subwoofer? thank you.

For one? Yes, that's quite a bit too much... Enclosure volume will be CRITICAL, as will proper gain setting.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

What rockford or alpine amp would you recomend for this subwoofer.

What about the p325.1

Much better choice. Still not a fan of ANYTHING Fosgate, and don't know Alpine well enough, but that's probably a better choice.

So is not to little power?

I have had people tell me is to little for one sub and that I should get the p600.1 but I thouhgt it was to much.

No, that'll be just fine.

Anybody ever heard of dynamic overhead? Proper gain setting is always a critical adjustment, but has nothing to do with power. But will it automatically blow the sub? NO! Excessive power on tap only ensures that the amplifier will be able to keep up with demand. The p600.1bd is not overkill If you don’t want your sub to blow don’t run it at distortion. Or more importantly make sure that your enclosure design maximizes your subs acoustic output and mechanical abilities. This way thermal overload is not a huge concern. Amplifier power always needs to be able to exceed the subs thermal limitations at least slightly. Otherwise you will never be able to realize the subs full potential. A smaller amplifier will do fine as well, just at a lower volume.
Also keep in mind that a 325W RMS amp on a 400W RMS sub dose not provide you with any protection. You can still burn the voice coil if you run the sub at distortion. Clipped sign waves produce a lot of heat.

And yes, but the word is "Dynamic Headroom"... There is no such thing as "Dynamic Overhead". Overhead has NOTHING to do with it... If you're gonna come here, and expect to step on toes, then expect to get called on it as well.
Yes, I am a HUGE fan of headroom, (I personally run an Eclipse DA7232 on a pair of TCSounds TC1000 10's, (WELL OVER 2kW) and 1260 watts in my doors, in a three way system - don't throw headroom in *MY* face.) but in MOST people's cases, those who are not aware of the differences between OVERPOWERING, and "allowing for headroom", it is a FAR safer bet to match the amplifer with an output AT or slightly below the driver's rated power. This is what I did.

So that your suggestion. Under power? Ok! Great I guess? You go with that

i have some questions.

Is it better to run 2ohms or 4ohms? the amp (p325.1)is capable of both.

Can I have one amp running the subs at 2ohms and the other amp running the fronts at 4ohms? thank you.

Would 4awg wire to a distribution block for two 8awg for two amps ok?

What fuse to use, one amp is the p325.1 and the other one is a p5002. Thank you.
