What I am trying to do is find a way to install a 8 inch screen into my 91 300ZX. (Z32)
I am planning on having it move up out of my dash when in use and slide back down so its hidden.
What I dont know is what should I be looking for to do this? I know its going to be motorized but don't know what to look for to complete this.
I do know they have indash screens that do this, but thats NOT what I want to use.
I need something that would hold the LCS and move up/down about 5-7 inches.
Anyone please point me in the right direction?
Car: 91 300ZX
Screen is less then 10 pounds
Needs to move up/down aout 5-7 inches
Thanks

Consider looking at linear actuators. There are a bit on the pricey side but it should be fine. Another option would be screw actuators. Cheaper, but a bit harder to find (consistantly at least). A third option would be to use a power antenna, but you'll have to find one that you can control to only move 5-7 inches. Another option would be to get a hold of a rotary actuator of some sort and use that as a way to control the motion. (It'll also give the screen a cool slow-fast-slow motion which I am particularly fond of)

Use a cheap drawer slide (bottom mount recommended) as a guide for the screen.

This is just one idea. I'm sure there are other ways too. I just can't think of any right now.

Check out the one at the bottom of the screen I think that might work.
