I just finished installing a 350HV. I want to use the aux output to turn on my head lights. Do I need to use a relay to do this?

What kind of vehicle? This does make a diff. Some you will need to use a relay....others you will not!

Dodge RAM 1500, 2001. From the Hayne's manual, the wire that controls the head lights is light green. When I tested that wire it went from +12V to ground when I turn the lights on. So I am wondering if I need to connect the output from the alarm to a relay that switches to ground, or just use the output from the alarm itself? The output is -200mA. I really appreciate the help.

Um, I can't recall for sure, but don't think it's that simple:  I know the dodge/chrysler's need to see a certain resistance in the headlight wire to turn on:

Check this link:

https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=67105&KW=ram+headlight

I'm not sure if the 2001 is different .. if the 2001 is a simple 12 volt + wire for turning the headlights on, then wiring as follows:

85: 12 volts fused (+)

86: aux output from brain (-)

87: to headlight wire on Dodge Ram(+)

30: 12 volts fused(+)

The search function is your friend.

According to DEI it is a light green wire at the light switch.  Victory technology states that it is a GREEN/ black wire at the same switch.  Post which is right.  By the way, DEI states that this wire needs a high current ground so yes you do need a relay. Either way both are (-) triggers.

So I got it to work using a SPST relay from Radio Shack. For a 2001 Dodge Ram it is a light green wire that comes out of the headlight switch, it's pretty easy to find once you unscrew the switch from the dash, it goes from 12V+ to 0 when the switch is turned on. The wiring of the relay was:
85: 12V+
86: Trigger from alarm
30: Ground
87: Light green headlight wire
Thanks for the help, this site is great.
