Any location is fine as long as it gets plenty of fresh power and ground. If you're sticking it behind the taillight then just be sure it doesn't get wet and mount it with the connectors facing down.

It looks like moisture may be a problem.  After looking more at the wiring diagram, is there a good reason that the module could not be installed between the dash switch and the rear window switch?  It looks to me as if it would function the same.  Plus it would be mounted inside the truck.  One fall back would be if you tried to use one of the other switches while this was in operation you would probably blow a fuse.  But it would be a great install if I could move it in between the switches.

Electronically I think it would work, though the internal workings of the 529R I am not familiar with.  What do you think?

The 529T has to be connected between the switch and the motor.  As long as the Green and the Blue of the 529T go to the motor wires directly without going through switches or relays first then you're OK.

I am still not sure why.  I am not saying you are wrong, I just want to know why.

The tailgate switch (while at rest) connects the wires straight through to the dash switch.  Why should you not go through a switch?

It will work until someone decides to turn the key in the tailgate while the window is moving via the 529T - then it's "Holy Smoke!"

That is what I thought.  I think the stock system is the same way.  If someone uses the dash one way and the tailgate the other... poof goes the fuse / fusible link.  I think the odds of that happening are small.  I think I am going to give it a shot, maybe put a fuse on the 529R ground just in case.  Otherwise I can not find a good place to mount the unit.

I'll probably tackle it Sun or Mon.   Let me know if you see any other problems.

Thanks
