The dealership told me today that the fuel pump went out because the magnet on the speaker in my kick pod screwed with the fuel pump shut off switch.  It was a warranty repair so they fixed it anyways, but why is it always the aftermarkets faults.
Good Luck!

Ya know.... just when you "THINK" you have heard it all.

You should ask them for a demonstration of their claim... now THAT I would like to see!

that is quite interesting.. lol. However, some vehicles do have a kill switch in the kick panel... if this is the case with your vehicle, it is possibly (very slim, but possible) that the magnet could have physically turned the switch off

It does but the speaker was pretty far away from it so I am pretty sure it could not do anyting mechanically.

Good Luck!

The electromagnetic waves from the bass must have done it. Sheesh..be creative, blame the flux capacitor.

Some vehicles have inertia switchs that can be trigged but extreamly heavy bass from a sub. They are designed to shut off electric fuel pumps in the event of an accident. But that would not ruin the pump, all you have to do is reset the switch.

Dealers suck!

Wow if the magnet screwed with the switch then that's a pretty weak switch to begin with so....recall anyone? lol!
