Or should I get another headunit?  I want crisp and clean sound... I want more SQ.

Alpine is a good choice IMO. Also Eclipse. I've used Pioneer lots of times with no problems, but I know several others that had bad experiences with them. Right now I have Alpine in my Supra.

ANY Alpine'll likely be better than the severly entry level Pioneer you presently have.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

i guess i will return the pioneer and get the alpine?  does the lower end models are ok?  I want cd/mp3, 1 rca, aux in.  Does the whole 1.8 2.0, 2.2, 2.5 volt make a difference... I would says maybe with the gain?

I suggest you go shopping at a brick and mortar car stereo shop in your area.  Decide how much you want to spend and see which Alpine or Eclipse HU you can afford.  You will be much happier than with your Pioneer.

You could take the time to check the Alpine website.  Or better yet, go ask an authorized dealer in your area.
