I currently work in the auto collision repair business, but have installed alarms, remote starters, sound systems, etc. as a hobby & a way to make a lil extra money. I really have an interest in switching to this career field fulltime & was wondering does anyone know where I can find the standard labor rates for this industry?

It is based on the area you are in and the level of work you are going to do either basic install or custom work. I know up here in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area my boss charges $40/hr which is ok but I do it on the side and charge $25/hr... even though I have years more experience then my boss, I am just trying to get my name out there so I can get more work by word of mouth then as business increases then I can charge a tad more and then get back to the amount I was making back when I ran my own business, about $36/hr.
The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

Depends on what your local market will bear. We currently sit at $60/hr, which is cheap as far as I am concerned.
Wherever I go, that is where I end up......

VA here
just a few basic rates
$50 for a headunit, $100 for a in dash dvd player
$40 for a pair of speakers, $70 for 4 at once
2ch/mono amp is $60, 4+ch is $75
$150 starting price for remote start/keyless
$200 for alarm/keyless/alarm
$100 for headrest monitors
$80/hr with 1hr minimum for fixing other shops work (get that alot)
Those are a few basic rates, but they change depending on the year make and model of the vehicle. All parts and a $5 shop fee are extra.
generally speaking I charge $1 per minute
