Head Unit Issues...

I just changed all the speakers in my '98 Lincoln Navigator to Audiobahns. I installed a new JVC head unit and it worked...for about five minutes. I shut the car off, and pushed the unit back into the dash to secure it. Then, I started up the car and the head unit wont turn on. At first I though I had blown a fuse...I checked every fuse I know of in the car and nothing is blown (I checked the fuse box above the leg area on the driver's side and the box under the hood...are there fuses anywhere else in the car?) If this isn't a fuse, what is it. It's not the head unit itself, because the original one that came with the navigator wont even turn on. I'm lost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you checked your owner’s manual? It will tell you where all your fuses are and which ones do what. Disconnect everything except for your power and see if it turns on. If it dose than one of your other wires is shorting it out. I would also get a voltage tester and start testing to see where you lose power. Also run a continuity check to see if you have a good ground.

Do you have a factory amp? if so you could have a problem their

sometimes the car's computer sends a signal to the original head unit and the head unit will send a signal back to the car's comp. if you blew the curcuits on that then your sol , you'll probably need a new comp.  check to see if any other functions don't work. like a light somewhere or defog or something small like that. chances are that your gonna find something else not working. but definetly check to see if your wires have power( use a dmm or a test light)and make sure that you have proper ground and power(12 constant and 12 switched). good luck
