dual cd decks switched

hey, any1 got a clue how to wire up 2 decks?. one is CD and one DVD. the thing is, I want to get a diagram with the use of relays that if the CD Deck ON, DVD Player OFF. and vice versa. dont want to accidently turn on both and pop the fuse or run a 12v line from the batt or ignition switch. i couldnt think of one or draw one up so i need some help.

Do either of the units have an input jack?   You do know that the DVD deck will play CDs.

yea i know that, but its just i want both. cuz the cd (eclipse) has navi and the dvd is just DVD. i got them as a gift and i cant really return them. so just want to wire up both.

If you are using the Aux Input of one unit to play the other unit, and you have only one unit connected to your speaker wires, there will be no problem with both units being on at the same time.  If you are using the aux input of one unit, they WILL both have to be on to play the one that is feeding the aux in.  If you still insist on wiring a relay to power only one at a time here you go.  I must insist that you DO NOT connect speaker wires from both units to your speaker wires of your car.  It does not matter if only one unit is on at a time, this could damage the internal amplifier of your radio.

Pin 30 to the switched power wire coming from your car.

    87A to the primary deck's switched wire  (red)

    87 to the secondary deck's switched wire

     85 to ground

     86 to a switch to activate the relay and allow you to listen to the secondary deck.

      The other side of the above switch to a fused 12 volt source.

There have been other threads on this subject. The general suggestions from the true experts on car audio (NOT me!) are to not do this!

I have read about it, but could not figure how to search it. I know this is not any help at all, but it's my only thoughts on the subject.
