I just got this amp off ebay...MTX600XD ...perfect condition...lights come on, fueses are good....but it just doesn't seem to be amplifying....I don't know. How do I know if I should get my money back? I know I don't have it hooked up wrong....easy setup.

Does the amp have any output at all?   Some MTX amplifiers can be muted by turning the gains all of the way down.  Have you checked to make sure the gains were not all the way down?  Have you checked the plus and minus configuration on the speaker terminals?  Some amps have the speaker terminals Plus Plus Minus Minus.

yeah....everything is hooked up as it should be. And it is playing through the speaker.....but It's not getting very loud at all....I don't thiunk it's working. It's doing about as much as it would if I wired it directly to the head unit...like 35 watts or whatever.....I have such bad luck. How do I test this thing so I know if I can turn this thing sideways and shove it up dudes ass

Do you have a dual voice coil woofer connected to the amp? If so disconnect one of the voice coils and see if it plays loud then.

Well if you know you have good signal getting to the amp, it sounds to me as the amp is bad. If you have the tools necessary to take it apart, I can tell you what to look for just to make sure it is bad before you go and wrongfully turn it sideways.

I just had it apart and everything looked great....I can see no visible burns/breaks etc. Everything looks brand new. I don't get it. Unless they droped it during shipping

Did you remove any of the clamps that hold the transistors down to the heat sink? The power supply transistors could be cracked, but the amp will play with very low output, just as you are describing.
The power supply transistors are the ones nearest the transformer, the round ring with multi colored wires wrapped around it.

Not of that particular amp. Do you have a digital camera so you can take a picture of the inside of the amp and send it to me?
