First off, why are you trying to "bypass" it? Need to know more. Perhaps you can just not use it. I did an install in a 95 Explorer and basicly just ignore the factory amp.

Should have read your full post. In a 95 it is in the rear right(passenger) side.

i need to bypass it b/c i installed a new head unit which turns on but no sound comes thru the speakers

my friend has a taurus w/ a premium system and he wired directly to all the speakers instead of bypassing it

Yeah, try to find the turn on wire at the harness. I've had this problem in a couple chevys too. I would bet that the remote wires aren't connected on them. But you will want to check if the factory amp runs on a 5v turn on instead of the 12v that the aftermarket deck does.

If it is a 5v turn on, here is another persons problem and solution with the ford premium sound 5v turn on

Voltage reduction via resistors?
