I'm trying to decide between the two alpines listed in the subject. Is the extra 50 bucks or so worth the upgrade?
And yes, it has to be Alpine, I already have the XM and wiring for an Alpine.
Thanks,
Chris

If you are using the internal amps, I would say yes it is worth it, otherwise, I would say the differences are not that great. We don't stock the 9833 at our shop, simply because it isn't that much different than the 9831. We do stock the 9835, and with the new ipod adapter, it has been our best selling Alpine deck because of the display abilities.

well I WENT through the same problem it is not worth the 70 Us in price differnce to buy the 9833 i have a 9831 my buddy has a 9833 their is VERY little differnce its just mainly colour differnrce and having a bit longer lenght of the track names eg mp3 tags that you can have. Anyways the 9831 kicks a$$ it is the best deck i have owned it was well worth the money. go for it. ALpine is da bomb.

this is actually a gift for my brother, not for me. He does not use the head unit amp. Is the extra band of eq and bass engine pro make an audible sound difference.....this stereo is more about clarity than spl.
Thanks,
Chris

what about cda-9831 vs. the cda-9830.......the stats make it seem like the difference is really just the multi color keys, which is the better pick?
Thanks,
Chris

Let me put my $0.02 in on this one.  I too have been trying to figure out the differences between the models in that range.  I have looked at the 9831, as it seems to be the sweet spot in price (on sale at Crutchfield right now, $279).  I too was trying to pin down the differences between 9831, 9833, and 9835.  The 9835 seems to (from images on the web) have a higher resolution display.  Can anyone speak about it?

The display on the 9835 is the BioLite display which is able to display more information. Most of my customers who do sat radio or ipod adapters do the 35 as it is easier to read / more lines of information available. I'm not a huge Alpine fan, but the display on the 35 is great.

How much of a difference does the 9835's display really have? I am going through the same delema. I didnt see any difference between the 9830, 9831, 9833 except amp power ratings. Did I miss something? Also does the 9835's screen make that much of a difference with reading it for sat radio? Its a hughe price jump for a better screen. Im think Im goign with the 9830 becasue I use external amps and I dont need the extra features the 9835 has, so I see no reason to buy the 9831 or 9833. Someone correct me if Im worng or tell me what differences the 31 and 33 have over the 30 besides internal amp ratings? Thanks!!
