hey, I know everyone says double cutting... But i can't seem to find any information on it, even searching these forums? any links or straight information will be greatly appreciated.. I dont have many corners on my setup, but more large flat surfaces. I just wanted to know how easy it is orr what while the carpet and adhesive is in the mail, so i will know by next week when i get it. Thanks

you will have to have carpet meet somewhere, unless you leave a side open. I started on the back of my box, just below half way. I sprayed as i rolled the box along the carpet, pulling and stretching. When i got back to where i started, i did the double cut method - flawless.

Thanks for all the help guys.. I really actually dont think i will need to... I will post a couple of links to where i have a box picture... Its a pretty unique box.. for me anyway, being as this is my first box build, and i am pretty damn satisfied with it.

check it out let me know what you think.

As you can see its a downfiring box, and all I really need to carpet is the pack and top panel, of the main box, and the side cover pieces, which will become mymisc. stuff compartments ( i hate loose stuff in the trunk...

I painted the bottom parts that i dont want to carpet black, so they will be black if someone gets on a funny angle and sees them Should i carpet around the subwoofer ring for a better seal? Infinity Kappa Perfects... ? well thanks and let me know what you all think of my first box please.

Hmm, the top picture isnt loading for me anyway, I'll try getting that picture on again... Here is the main picture.

Looks good- my first box looked horrible. As far as carpeting around the sub rings for a good seal- if you're not planning on carpeting the whole face where the subs mount, you can just use some foam weatherstipping from the hardware store. It works good, and I keep some on hand.

Even if you leave the bottom face of the enclosure uncovered, you still have angles to wrap with carpet, so some double-cutting will have to be done. The problem, though, with leaving a face uncovered is that you will have to deal with carpet edges and the problems associated, like pulling and an uneven result in the edge. If it were me, I'd wrap this entire box including the face. You can work it out so that the seams result on the bottom and against the seat back, so they don't show up in the actual installation.

The first hit in the search geepherder posted refers to a tutorial written on sounddomain forum (see where I wrote "from link above"). That covers it prety well. Note that you have to be careful with the glue in those overlapped areas before double-cutting because getting glue on the finished side of the carpet can show up later.

By the way, that's a fine looking box you've built there! Are you going to be using that empty space on the right side for installing something, or is it just made that way to fill up the car from side to side?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Noth to fill up side to side, and for using it to put stuff... I am semi-anal about car cleaning, and I live at college about an hour away from me. so I will store soem detailing stuff in there, I will also probably have an ice chipper, and some other misc. stuff. the other side also has a small compartment. As for the amp and capacitor and maybe a power inverter, that is why i left the lip on the front part of it. So the amp will fit in, and the wood will mount flush against the back seats. I needed to cut the semi circles in order to access the amp, and move the back seats down.

the side sections will also cover the bolting down of the box. I had the last one stolen, this will not happen again. thanks for all your ideas and comments, and checking out my work. carpetting, and double cutting -- posted image.

wow, how did i type Noth, it was sposed to be 'Both', not 'Not' because yes it is sort of. lol thanks agian guys, and if anyone else has comments that would be greatly appreciated. and expect pics when its all done as well.

as for edges, like not rolling the carpet around the corner, does that work good, or would I be worried about the carpet peeling back and looking ugle. thanks.
