Use real bolt cutters.  That's what I do.  Mine are a hundred years old and the jaws are all gnarled...works great.  The new Chinese (isn't everything?) bolt cutters are pretty cheap and I bet it wouldn't take a whole lot to put some grooves in the jaws.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

use a bench vise...   that's what I do for anything 4 gauge or larger
fiberglass reminds me of peanut brittle... but fiberglass tastes better!
