kicker 650.4 problems

hey, i have a kicker 650.4 amp bridged into 2 channel powering duel kicker comp vr duel voice coils. problem is that when i turn the volume up not even loud, the amp chokes, its lights dim and just sounds crappy. i hooked up my splits and rears to it to see if the same problem occured, and it did again at the higher volumes. when i say higher volumes, its not to loud. ive sent the amp away 5 times now and kicker keep sending it back "repaired" but its always the same problem. am i doing something wrong? is there something i should try out? my other amp powering my normal speaker is 4x130watt rms and it doesnt choke at all, runs fine all the way, and i also have a ultima dry cell batery so power shouldnt be an issue. im really at wits end with it aye

I'm going to have to make some assumptions here, as you left out some of the most important information... Well, dual (vs. duel) voice coils, wired in parallel will give you 4, 2, or one ohm, commonly. You didn't tell us which CVRs you have, so I am simply going to assume it is the most common version, the 4 ohm. Those two voice coils, wired in parallel is 2 ohms. Now, I know what you're gonna say - "The amp says it's 2 ohm stable". That may be true, but that is PER CHANNEL, and stereo mode. When you bridge into 2 ohms, the amp is actually "seeing" 1 ohm per channel. That amp ISN'T one ohm stable. Possible solutions are: 1: Wire the voice coils in series, for an 8 ohm load, then bridge into THAT load, the amp will then see 4 ohms per channel. 2: Wire one voice coil to each channel of the amp, and forego the bridging altogether - 4 voice coils, 4 channels of amplifier.It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. yeh man the they kicker CompVR 2 ohm sorry. the thing that gets me though is i connected the amp up to the normal speakers, ie my splits and 2 ways, per channel, and it still "staggered" or "choked" whereas my other amp, although a different brand, but same sort of power, runs fine. im probs goin to diotch the amp and buy a mono, but i still want it to work so i can sell it.
