Hi everyone, this is my first post here and i have a couple of questions. I just bought and will be isntalling an avistart 4103 remote start w/ keyless entry in my 2000 ford crown victoria. It is a police interceptor so i don't have to worry about the PATS system but was wondering if i needed additional relays or anything like that for the install, also i found an installation manual in the install bay part of this site and read something about a bitwriter and was wondering if i needed one of these tools to program the unit before installing it.
Thanks for any help

I have also found wiring charts for my car on here and looked at those but i am going to have to brush up on auto wiring a little bit before doing the install, the most i have done is putting in a few aftermarket radios.

you will need 2 relays for the locks as they are reverse polarity
1 relay for the trunk release
1 relay for the 3rd ignition as the 4103 only has 2 ing and 1 acc and the car has 3 ing 1 acc
are you sure it doesn't have PATS ?
you don't need a bitwriter the module has an led that is used for programming but i like using the horn much easier to listen to the beeps

How do I know what relays to get? and yes I am sure that it does not have PATS, none of the crown victoria police interceptors do.

You will need two single pole double throw relays and two single pole single throw, or you could make it easy to remember and just get four single pole double throw! They'll work fine

Okay, i will get some 30/40amp relays and relay sockets. I am going to ask a dumb question here: where exactly would i wire these at and how do i know what to connect to each pin of the relay?

i did the same exact car like 3 weeks ago, it DOESNT have PATS which is correct, and if my memory serves me well enough, the wiring info for the ignition harness is wrong the colors arent right. there was only 2 ingnitions 1 acc, and the door locks are 5 wire, in the boot, which was sorta a PITA

I am getting good info so far but what about the bitwriter tool that i saw mentioned in the installation manual, do i have to get one to program my remote start or can the install be done without one?
