Hi Everyone,
I'm installing an older Alpine SEC 8058 into my 92 Camaro.
I have it mostly hooked up, but trying to get some of the convenience features working.
The first I'm not sure how to do is dome light supervision. The alarm has an internal relay for this at least that's what the manual says.
The car, from how I gather it works has 2 wires Orange (always 12) and a white (appears to be a switched ground).   The wires on the alarm that is supposed to go the dome light puts out 12v. How do I hook this up?   I need it to output a ground instead of 12v right?
The next thing I'm trying to do, is use the EXT1 and hook it up to the remote hatch switch.   The remote hatch seems to work the same way. 2 wires one is always 12 and the other is ground.   When you slide the switch forward it shorts the 2 and the relay for the hatch clicks and opens the glass.
The EXT1 output from the alarm is again 12v. There is no internal relay for this option.   So I know I need to use an relay, but not sure how to hook it up, so it outputs a ground.
Thanks!
Chris

DomeLight Supervision       Blue/Red  to ground, Blue / YELLOW to the white wire on one of your door pinswitches.

Relay for hatch pop.  YELLOW /GREEN to terminal 85 of a relay.  Constant 12 volts to terminal 86 of the relay.  Terminal 30 to Ground, terminal 87 will be ground output.

Never actually played with one but weren't they a brilliant unit in their day?

I actually did end up getting them working.
I had to use a relay on the dome light supervision, because the output from the alarm is 12V.   I need it to be ground, since that is what completes the light circuit.
but here is the thing, everything works.   But both relays (hatch and the one for the light) when they are enabled make a high pitch whining noise. The stop as soon as the trigger from the alarm is turned off.
Any ideas?
Also, I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this. Not really an alarm question, but I would like to make it so the doors lock, when you put the car into gear.   Anyone know of a way to do this?
And yes, these were pretty nice alarms for their time.

Sorry have another question about this alarm.
I just found the start relay for it, and trying to figure out how to wire it up.   The wiring diagram has this.
Orange -> Start Cut relay.
Then on the relay there are 3 other wires, and on the wiring digram it's listed as
RED / white: Use for normally open
RED / Yellow: Use for normally close
Red: To Key
I'm not sure where in the car to tap into these wires.
There is also another wire alarm, I'm not sure if I use or not:
Red (N/O Started must be true ignition) << NOt sure what that even means.
could someone help me figure out what I need to tap into?
Thanks!

Yes this is the sheet I've been using and where I got the descriptions I posted.
but I'm not sure where on my car that each of those wire I listed above actually connect too.

Red N/O started MUST be joined to an ignition wire that stays live during cranking: TEST
In fact that's an obligatory connection otherwise you could turn on the alarm whilst driving.
Then from the relay, cut the starter wire, red to key side and RED / yellow to starter side.
Don't use RED / white. You can but I prefer the extra safety of normally closed.

You do not need a relay for domelight supervision.  If your vehicle needs negative, you ground one of the 2 associated wire, then use the other wire to give yoiu ground out for the vehicle.  Chances are, you applied positive voltage to the wire.
